A total of ten teams took part in the competition and the BCCI decided to divide them into two groups (A and B). Group A includes MI, RR, KKR, DC and LSG while Group B includes CSK, PBKS, SRH, RCB and GT. Unlike last season, each team will play five teams from the other group twice and once against four other teams from their own group, with each team playing 14 league games.

IPL Points Table 2023 Rules

When it comes to the IPL points table, the team that wins a match gets two points while the team that loses a match gets no match points. If the game is canceled or tied, both teams score a point.

If two teams are tied in the standings, the team with the most wins will be counted. On the other hand, if the wins are tied for both teams, the Net Run Rate (NRR) will be used. The NRR is revised after each game based on the team’s win-loss ratio.
The winner of Qualifier 1 will advance to the final, while the losing team will play Qualifier 2. The 3rd and 4th place teams will only have one game, the knockout round, with the winner advancing to the round qualifying 2 and the loser being eliminated.

IPL 2023 Standing Trivia

Although there are two sets, there is only one score sheet. The top 4 teams at the end of the league stage will qualify for the play-offs, and the other 6 teams will be eliminated. At the same time, the top 2 teams in the ranking will have an additional opportunity to participate in the finals of Qualifiers 1 and 2.
The team with the most playoff appearances is Chennai Super Kings (11).

Only the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Deccan Chargers (now defunct) finished the IPL season with just two wins (4 points), the lowest of any team.

The difference between these two teams is also that they are the teams that have never topped the Indian Premier League table but have won the title at least once.

The lowest score for a team to enter the playoffs in IPL history is 12.
