Viacom18’s OTT app, which includes JioCinema, has had a highly successful start to their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) journey. The app recorded an impressive 2.5 crore downloads on the first day of the tournament, breaking the previous record for the most-installed app in a single day. This achievement was proudly announced in a statement released by Viacom18 on the opening day of the TATA IPL 2023 tournament.
The app’s popularity did not stop there, as it also garnered an impressive 6 crore unique viewers who tuned in to watch the first match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings on March 31st. This match alone achieved 1.6 crore peak concurrency on JioCinema, further emphasizing the platform’s ability to attract a large and engaged audience. In total, the match views on day one reached an incredible 50 crore, highlighting the vast reach and popularity of the IPL.
To further enhance viewers’ experiences, the Reliance-owned platform had announced several new app features, such as 4k streaming and multiple camera angles. These new features aim to provide users with an improved match-viewing experience, which likely contributed to the high engagement seen on the first day of the tournament.
